Scheduled Online Unity Service: FAQ
What is the Scheduled Online Unity Service? The Scheduled Online Unity Service is a worship gathering to be hosted at 10:00am on Sundays via the Zoom meeting platform. It will begin on August 16. We will be able to greet one another and see each others’ faces while viewing the worship service video together. Edited (8/11/20): 10:00-10:20 will be for greeting each other, fellowship, and taking care of technical issues before we begin the worship service video at 10:20.
Why should I participate in the Scheduled Online Unity Service? We long for the day when our whole congregation will be reunited in person for worship. While we wait for that day, one way that we can be unified as a congregation is by setting aside a specific portion of our Sunday to worship at the same time. The Zoom meeting is a wonderful opportunity to gather together and enjoy each other while worshipping as a church family!
Will a recording of the service still be available? Yes. Currently, we are pre-recording and editing the service video prior to Sunday, and it will still be available via YouTube for those who cannot join the worship service via Zoom and wish to view the video.
Where can I get the Zoom link? The Zoom link will only be available through our weekly emails. If you do not receive weekly emails, you can sign up on our website.(www.wintersburg.org). At the bottom of the page, you will see a “Wintersburg Email Updates” link. There you can sign up to receive our weekly emails and/or church prayer requests.
What is Zoom? Will technical support be available for those of us new to Zoom? Zoom is an online meeting platform that allows groups to gather virtually using the internet. For more information about Zoom itself and tutorial videos, visit the website: https://zoom.us/
What if I am not able to use the Zoom platform to participate in the service? We invite you to be united with us in worship by viewing the YouTube worship service video at 10:20am, the same time that the video will be viewed during the Zoom gathering.
Why is the Scheduled Online Unity Service at 10:00am? Why not 8 and 10:20? At this time, we thought it would be best to unify our congregation at a time that is accessible, easy to remember, and supportive of those who will be serving. We acknowledge that this decision will not please everyone, but we pray that you will join us in walking through these ever-changing circumstances and challenges together. Edited (8/11/20): After some discussion, we decided to host a fellowship time 10:00-10:20, and to start the worship service video at 10:20. This will allow for some time for interactive fellowship before the service, and for some transition time for those involved in Nichigo service and Sunday School classes. We hope to see you at 10:00 if you are able!
What about regathering? Is Wintersburg still preparing for in-person services? Yes, we are still preparing for in-person worship services, but the specific details and date of in-person regathering will be communicated at a later time.
For now, here is a general summary of the road back to in-person regathering. Again, remember that all of this is subject to change. We may progress quickly or slowly through these steps, and possibly backwards/forwards, depending on current conditions.
Step 1 (before August 16): Pre-recorded videos of the weekly worship services. The worship service video is filmed and edited each week prior to its Sunday release. The video is available on YouTube starting at 4am each Sunday.
Step 2 (begins Sunday, August 16): Scheduled Online Unity Services. We will gather online at 10:00am on Sundays for corporate worship via Zoom, using the pre-recorded worship service video. The pre-recorded service will also be available on YouTube.
Step 3 (date TBD): Livestreamed worship services. We will gather online to worship together via livestream. The worship service will be livestreamed and recorded at the same time on Sunday morning. The recording will be available after the service concludes. No recording will be available prior to the livestreamed service. More details will be given later.
Step 4 (date TBD): Modified in-person worship services. We will have an in-person worship service on the WPC campus that will be both livestreamed and recorded. You may also join us online to worship via the livestream. The recording will be available after the service concludes. The details of this service will be specified later.
Step 5 (date TBD): Regular in-person worship services. Livestreams and recordings will continue as needed.
