2026 Fukuoka STM

• July 28th - August 7, 2026 •

Join a team serving in Fukuoka, Japan this summer under the leadership and direction of Utmost Ministry’s Kids Gospel Camp. Our team will support their ministry in reaching unchurched children ages 4–16 by preparing VBS-style programming and English lessons, and through relationship building at the camp.

We may also be asked to serve in other ways at the request of our local missionary, with specific roles discerned as the team prepares in the months leading up to the trip. This calls us to prepare diligently while remaining humble and open to how the Lord may choose to use our time in Fukuoka.

Japan remains one of the least-reached nations, and this trip is an opportunity to serve faithfully, learn cross-culturally, and participate in what God is already doing through local ministry partners.

Go-ers & Send-ers

Our mission teams are made up of both Go-ers and Send-ers, each playing an essential role in the work God is doing. Go-ers are those called to serve on the field alongside our ministry partners, while Send-ers are called to strengthen and sustain the mission through prayer, encouragement, and practical support. Both roles require discernment, commitment, and shared ownership of the mission. As you consider this Short-Term Mission, you are invited to apply in the role (Go-er or Send-er) that best aligns with how God is leading you to participate.

Cost & Support Raising

  • Support goal: $2,500

    This covers airfare, lodging, meals, training materials, and in-country ministry expenses.

Preparation & Training

Leading up to the trip, participants will engage in intentional spiritual, cultural, and practical preparation, including:

  • 11 sessions (additional training may be needed)

    • Meetings are scheduled twice in March, April, May, and June, and then weekly throughout July

  • Team retreat at the end of May

  • Support raising

  • VBS & English lesson preparation

  • Personal testimony preparation

  • Local outreach

Requirements

  • Application deadline: Saturday, February 7, 2026

  • Interview with team leader(s): between February 8th - 28th

  • Commitment to spiritual growth and team participation

  • Attendance at all trainings (only 1 absence allowed)

  • Completion of readings & assignments

  • Active involvement in local outreach

  • Recent experience with VBS or working with kids is a plus

  • Background check (Live Scan)

  • Valid passport

  • Must be 18 years or older
